We are so thankful to have the dedicated group of volunteers from Hands and Feet, which is a part of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, be part of our ministry this year. The group was started by Mary Pulido about zx years ago, and this is the second year for their participation in the annual Christmas backpack giveaway.
The backpacks are distributed to the homeless on the last Thursday befor Christmas every year, and this year we gave away 59 backpacks, which included 23 for men, 20 for women, and 14 for children.
The members of Hands and Feet donated all of the backpacks and the supplies that went into them, and it took a lot of treasure and talent to pulll this off in the successful way that they did.
Those who went to the street to help give away the backpacks were blessed by the opportunity to pray for people, make new friends, and to have their eyes opened to a world beyond the church walls.
We also want to be sure and thank Pastor Joe for giving the message that night and leading everyone in a Christmas carol or two.
The pictures below give an idea of what went into their project, and the fun they had doing it.
