Leanne

Several months ago, Leanne Johnson became the pastor of Tapestry (A Christian Connection). It is a small three year old church of about 20 people who have God-sized dreams. One of those dreams was to find a meeting place in downtown Olympia that would serve as a multi-use facility.

Finding that meeting place would prove to be a challenge, and an exercise in faith, prayer, and perseverance. The wish list was daunting – a downtown location, a local involved owner, enough space, and affordable rent. For at least six long months, attempts to locate a facility or even a helpful realtor turned out to be an exercise in frustration.

Finally, the owner of a circa 1901 former school building with unlimited character and 8000 square feet of space stepped forward with a willingness to work with the church. His gracious offers proved to be the answer to everyone’s prayers, and Leanne says the church plans to be in its new location for years to come.

After spending several weeks preparing the facility, the church met for the first time this Easter Sunday. The non denominational service featured warm and inviting surroundings, a worship band, prayers, a sermon, and at least one canine visitor.

Yes, the church services at Tapestry are pet friendly, and well behaved animals are welcome to join their families during the service.

Animal companions can sit with their families, or stay in one of the pens at the back of the sanctuary.

And starting in a few months, animal companions with families short on funds will have access to a no cost veterinarian clinic. It will be located in the facility garage and staffed with volunteer vets and donated supplies. So far, at least four vets have committed their time to the clinic. Several of the volunteers, including Kim Martin, are from the Hawks Prairie Vet Clinic. Other supporters have offered assistance for fundraising and supplies.

Leanne expects to hold at least one fundraiser
between now and the time that the clinic is ready to open. The no cost veterinarian clinic has been a prayer for a long time, and obtaining this facility is a very big step towards turning this dream into a reality.

The clinic will be one important way of reaching out to the surrounding community. Leanne says that the church will be looking for other opportunities to connect to the local people and businesses. She would like to invite you to drop by for one visit or many, and participate in new adventures.
